CLUB HISTORy
South County Volleyball Club was
established in 1998 and started with only one girls' team. They were known as
the Angels. Since then we have grown to five girls’ teams. In 2006, we wanted
to reach out to more young athletes. We
decided this time to add boys’ teams as well. They became known as the A’s. Currently we have
two boys teams. South County VBC has come a long way. Throughout the years we
have competed within the region and out of region and have won many
tournaments. This year SCVBC is offering six girls’ teams in the ages of U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15, U-17, and U-18. Our boys program
will offer two teams at the ages of U-13 and U-17.
Our GOAL and Philosophy
Our goal
as South County Volleyball Club is to dedicate ourselves to
each athlete to help them become a better volleyball player so if they desire, they may advance to
the next level: grade school to high school to college. But, also help each athlete become a stronger
individual on and off the court.
Our philosophy is to
teach young athletes to develop proper volleyball techniques that will build a
solid foundation for their volleyball future and to teach them in a fun and
positive atmosphere.

TRYOUT
INFORMATION
There
is a $10 tryout fee. Each player is to have a Gateway Tryout Form filled out
and signed by a parent (forms are available to download at gatewayvb.org or the day of the tryout) and
also the South County VBC information sheet (available on the Tryout Form link). South County VBC does not
accept waivered players.
Doors will open one half hour prior to tryout time for registration.
PRACTICE
Practices are held within the South
and Southwest Saint Louis County areas; depends on each team. Teams will practice two times a week.
Budget and fees
As a club we strive to keep fees
at a minimum. Our fees are $400 per year
plus uniform costs. The fees cover gym time for practice, speed and agility clinics, equipment, USA
registration fees, tourney fees and coach’s rooms and food when traveling. Our
coaches volunteer their time and are not paid. We do fundraising to
help supplement fees. Each team has separate accounts and the money they raise
will stay with their team.
